Lesson Plan:

Solo Piano Voicings

Step 1: Practice “But Beautiful” using lead sheet with melody and LH chords.
Step 2: Create 5-note voicings starting with melody, bass, 3rd and 7th. Then, decide if the 5th note is doubled, or if another option would be more suitable (e.g. 9th, 11th, 13th)
Step 3: Determine the optimal choices for 5-note voicings, and create your version of the arrangement with your own stylistic choices.
