Lesson Plan:
Topic #1: Solo Piano Voicings - Reharmonization
Step 1: Practice “But Beautiful” using 5-note voicings in a ballad style.
Step 2: Use half steps in the bass to reharmonize melody note with chromatic approach chords. Usually a dominant altered chord or parallel chromatic chord will work well for this.
Step 3: Create a new arrangement incorporating as many of these chromatic approach chords as possible for extra color.
