Lesson Plan:
Topic: Solo Piano Voicings
Step 1: Practice “But Beautiful” using 5-note voicings in a ballad style.
Step 2: Use arpeggios in the LH and RH with pedal to augment the texture of your solo piano approach.
Step 3: Use a “feathering” technique by playing the root and melody first, then filling in the remaining notes.
Step 4: Combine these approaches to create a solo piano version at least 1 chorus, rubato or in tempo q = 60.
