Lesson Plan:
Solo Piano Exercises
#1 -LH 1&7 RH 3 and 11. All Minors, (#11) on Dominants and Major 7ths.
#2 – LH 1 & 10, RH 3 and 11 all Minors, (#11) on dominants and major 7ths.
#3 – RH rootless Sus Chords 7,9,3,5 with LH 1&7
#4 – RH rootless Sus Chords 3,5,7,9 with LH 1&10
Solo Piano Integration
#5 – Pure Imagination, play around with 9’s and 11’s now and choose ONE extension to add to every chord.
#6 – Do it again and try TWO extensions with melody if it works out.
#7 – Try to use sus chords now to reharm Pure Imagination.
#8 – I’m Getting Sentimental Over You – Play with basic setup first LH 1&7, 1&10 or single note bass note, RH melody with extra shell.
#9 – Take above step and add in 9 or 11. Only the extensions we’ve practiced.
