Solo Piano Exercises for Extention Location
#1 – LH 1&7 RH 9,3 Through Circle of 4ths, All Minors, Dominants, and Majors @ 120bpm
#2 – LH 1&10 RH 7 and 9 Through Circle of 4ths, All Minors, Doms, and Majors @ 120bpm
#3 -LH 1&7 RH 3 and 11. All Minors, (#11) on Dominants and Major 7ths.
#4 – LH 1 & 10, RH 7 and 11 all Minors, (#11) on dominants and major 7ths.
Solo Piano Methodology Integration
#5 – Take Here’s That Rainy Day again with as many LH 10ths
#6 – Work on filling RH harmonizations under melody. Shoot for 1-2 shells plus 5 or 9 or both if using 1 shell. So 4 or 5 note voicing in RH. LH has single note bass note for the purpose of this exercise.
#7 – Take exercise above and now add LH 1&7 and 1&10.
#8 – Fill with RH comps down low using rootless voicings. And play through 1x where you’re not jumping to the same chord.
