  Narrower focus for LH voicing skills?

  I’m really enjoying the blues specialty course — lots of great info packed into it. However, I’m really discouraged at all the focus on LH voicings, particularly all the rootless variations.

  I’d like to focus on solo blues piano skills. Similar to JPS Solo course, there are certain LH voicings and skills that are recommended in the piano guide. None are rootless. Why are blues voicings (in JPS Blues course) focussed on rootless? I realize they sound great, but for beginner pianists, it’s a hard hurdle to learn all these for the Blues course.

  Can you recommend simpler LH voicings to focus on if I’m playing a simple blues melody?
