Awesome: Just to get the thread going, and help you get things in one place, I’ll paste in what I mentioned below.
On the Ballads Playbook, the lead sheet is not what you actually teach and play, which makes things a bit tricky. (The first 4 chords are Ab F7alt Bb-7 Eb sus, though you teach Ab Dbmaj7 Cm7 Eb sus4 ). Not a big deal, but a different chart would make the playbook easier to follow.

Great thanks David! I’ve added this to the update to list that we have going. I appreciate this idea. Seems like it’s going to work out great to update the user experience for everyone.
-
Yes, absolutely! A set group of chord changes to play something interesting before actually starting to play a jazz standard (say, as in intro/outro). Thank you.

Here is the real book version that is somewhat closer to what you teach over in the Ballads Playbook.

Thanks for posting this David! Yes lots of different types of changes to every tune, and learning them all is always the best choice. 😀

Hi, I would appreciate various “Voicings Vamps” streams complete with relevant transcription pdf, if possible, please. The purpose of this would be to improve soloing and comping skills and, to apply them to standards, introductions & “outros”. Thank you very much.

Hi Suzanna,
Can you elaborate a little more on what you mean by Voicing Vamps?
A vamp is usually a repeated set of chord changes. Is that what you’re referring to?

Hi Brenden, Unless I am missing something, the dashboard calendar has no way to download the upcoming live lessons to my calendar. They don’t show up on the events calendar (which does allow a download) so there is no was to get notified when they are happening. Any plans to make this happen?
Thank you
Paul

Hi Paul,
That is actually being worked on as I speak! Should have this going before the next Tune of The Month sessions starting next Wednesday!
Until then, you can view the new sessions on the dashboard under Upcoming Events which will be changed out by the end of the day. Thanks for asking!
We’re upgrading A LOT of things and this is at the top of the list right now.

Hi. I’m playing in a band and the cheat sheets that we follow have only the chords and words listed. Songs start right from the beginning, usually without an introduction. Could you give advice on the best way to riff on a three or four measure introduction?
-
Hey Richard,
Great question!
Do you know your rootless voicings?
You can usually comp the last 4 measures of a song, or just a simple 1-3-2-5 as an intro. I still do this in lots of my gigs for intros and it works like a charm everytime.
Also what @david.dennis said!

Sticking to just helping with basic things on the website that could be fixed, like charts or exercises that don’t quite fit with the lesson, etc.:
In the Solo Piano Playbook, Step #3, RH Harmonization Lesson. The Practice Exercise sheet has valuable exercises, but they all involve a single note bass and RH harmonizations. They don’t involve splitting the voicing with 1-7, 1-3, and 1-10 in the left. (One can certainly do this without charts. So it’s just a “fix” suggestion.)
