Lesson Plan:

Topic #1: Solo Piano Style + Improvisation

Step #1: Play 1-2 choruses of RH improvisation with LH accompaniment. NO Playlong for this one!
Step #2: Practice LH approach using “broken stride” method. Reach down for bass notes, reach up to grab a combination of rootless/rooted chords. Start by playing downbeats every 2 measures for more variety.
Step #3: Put these elements together, creating a recording of 1 chorus LH by itself, 1-2 chorus RH improvisation, and 1 chorus melody to finish.
