Lesson Plan:

Solo Piano

#1 – RH Rootless Voicings Through Circle of 4ths with LH bass notes. Shoot for 120bpm
#2 -LH 1&7 RH 9 and 3. All Minors, Dominants and Major 7ths.
#3 – A. Play But Beautiful In G at 56bpm. Add 5ths first go around.
B. 2nd time add 1 extension to all chords.
#4 – Try above exercise with My Romance.

Improvisation

#1 – LH Hit bass note then jump up to rootless voicings for minor 7ths, dominant 7ths and major 7ths. All through circle of 4ths both variations. Shoot for 120bpm if possible
#2 – RH arpeggiate chord tones up and down from root position for all minor 7th, dominant 7th and major 7th chords with metronome. Shoot for 120bpm. Through circle of 4ths.
#3 – A. Improvise over All The Things You Are using Ireal pro set at 90-120bpm RH alone just using chord tones
B. Add in LH rootless voicings with voicing leading IF POSSIBLE. If too much, don’t do this step.
